Michaela Blake has lived with a secret her whole life. Born an intersex, she’s hidden in plain sight from Earth’s religious tyranny, posing as a male to avoid being discovered and executed. Now that she’s escaped to Plasius, she is free to explore the other side of the intersex coin and be the woman she’s always felt she is.
Being both genders has left its scars on Michaela, however. She cannot imagine any man loving her ... never mind a Kalquorian clan made up of three men. Yet joining a clan is her only hope for salvation, her only sure way to escape Earth’s judgment.
Korkla, Govi, and Raxstad can’t believe their luck. They’ve been given the opportunity to court the rarest being in the known universe by the Crown Princes of Kalquor. However, to win the captivating Michaela, they must first get past her despair and self-doubt ... not to mention a jealous ex-girlfriend and murderous kidnappers. Still, saving the intersex Earther from others is not half as daunting as saving her from herself.
Please note this story contains depictions of men loving men and men loving an intersex (male/female) individual.
This is a companion story to Clans of Kalquor 2 Alien Rule.

I have been pulled into St John's books in steady increments...While I think this author is a competent and talented storyteller and I absolutely adore the world she has created...I never thought I would write this, but for me her stories, including Michaela, have too much sex.I often find I turn the pages when the sex scenes are written because there are too many of them and I don't feel the love connection enough for me to get titillated.
This is the one criticism I have--the lack of emotional connection. That feeling you get when characters fall in love. The romance is lacking. Instead, you get a whole lot of kinky sex that is so repetitive...spanking and paddling and paddling and spanking and things that pinch and hurt and being restrained....Not my thing in this quantity.
I read these books more for the fascinating society and world the author has built. I love the idea of the Kalquorian, an utter gentleman who reveres women, who is raised to cherish them, and spoil them, and indulge them because they are the life givers and nurturers and there are so few of them in Kalquorian society. However, when these hunky, alpha males get intimate with women, they need to be dominant and kinky--which would be fine--perfect even--if there would be more romancing and like I said above I would feel that emotional connection.
I don't understand all the sexual punishments and how they can help a young woman such as Michaela learn about self confidence...I don't understand the need for pain... the bondage sex is often explained as something that will liberate the woman, to teach her to give over her worries for the men to shoulder...meh.
Also, it is amazing how the woman, after having lived in a suppressed society on Earth where sex was looked upon as evil and for sinners, where there was no sexual liberty or openness, that she looks forward and is turned on by sexual humiliation and domination and looks forward to sex with THREE virile and sexually demanding men.(Forget about even exploring a bit a woman's natural shyness and inhibitions and gently easing her into a kinky world of sex with three men--of getting naked and being so thoroughly explored by three buff, dark, humongous aliens)...By the time the woman has had multiple orgasms with one of her clan members--I am so exhausted for her--I just can't believe her ability to go through the aerobic/acrobatic routine with two other clan mates who want release as well. Sex with a clan seems exhausting! Especially when all your orifices take a pounding(since Kalquorians have two wieners)! It's regular sex AND anal-- EVERY.TIME. Ouch! And as to be expected of these massive, bodybuilder type aliens--they are hung! Ouch again!
It has me wondering also, with all the eating these females do--because it is an honored tradition to be hand fed by your Kalquorian lovers...and all that sex they indulge in--when do the women get a chance to digest and eliminate before the marathon of double penetration recommences? Ewww.
Aside for the too much sex pet peeve and lack of some romance to warm me up for all the sex to come--the books are good, entertaining reads and the world building is amazing.
Wasn't so into Michaela being intersex--having both male and female genitalia...again, not my thing--maybe because I just wasn't emotionally invested enough.

Michaela edition by Tracy St John Romance eBooks Reviews
A very different love story. Author handled the subject well and with grace.
The story flow dragged at times that was why I only gave 4 stars.
Characters were well developed and engaged the reader.
I did want more angst and drama but perhaps in the next book.
We have had glimpses of Michaela and her clan in previous books and anthologies so my expectations were high. It was good to see the story line with Jessica through Miicaela' s POV.
I would recommend this book and it is stand alone but honestly feel reading the book with Jessica and the Imperial Clan before would enhance your reading pleasure. Then after you read pick up the anthology with Michaela.
So this book had many great reviews and I bought it because well the concept fascinated me... I mean I have read the other books in the series and thought they were great, they are great and here come this book... a person with both sets of male and female genitalia and not only that she can get pregnant??? So like the cat my curiosity got the better of me and I read the book. Let's start off with the simplest of criticisms the book is just way too long and way too boring. At some parts I was thinking when is this book ever going to end. Next the book parallels it's predecessor way too closely you really didn't need to read this book in the line of the series to get more into in this world that has spands nine books but it's prequels and sequel. Now the biggest issue I have with the book and the books main titillation factor, the main female role which is a key roll in understanding why the men of our book need females so badly (to reproduce as their kind is dying out) has both sets of male and female genitalia, not parts and she is not sterile either. Apparently she has sperm capable of fathering a child as well as eggs/overies/uterus to carry and mother a child. It just could picture it. My imagination could grasp or vision the love scenes. They were just too much and too weird to grasp. As I am a woman I identify with women and their body parts and how they function. Now this woman looks like a girl breasts hips etc however all I could picture is some little prepubescent boy dressing like a girl in it (yes I know that sounds really mean) but why write the main female role like that. I know it sounds interesting (hey I was so interested I bought and read the book) but don't make my mistake. It you want to read all male love stories they have books out there for that don't degrade the female sex just for titillation. Once read it can't be unread. Pass on this one.
I fell in love with all things "Kalquor" with the Clan Beginnings and Clans of Kalquor series. The stories like this about the women who are central in the clans' lives follow the action in the Clans of Kalquor series. If you've read the associated COK (sorry about the acronym) book, these individual women's stories will bring a whole new level to the stories there. The books are not just repetitions that were in the original books. They enhance the story and fill in events from a different perspective.
I highly recommend all the Kalquor books and applaud Ms. St. John once again for her imagination and excellent writing. If you haven't yet partaken, pick up any of the books. You'll see that this author has a way with turn of phrase that will strike you as a lover of the written word.
